You might want to help someone out while you\u2019re still here, rather than after your death. Or perhaps you want to save them some tax. When you make a gift, you reduce the inheritance your heirs ultimately receive from you, and that reduces the inheritance tax they need to pay.<\/p>\n

Ways to gift money
\n<\/strong><\/span>There are many different ways you can give money away. You can simply transfer it directly into the account of the beneficiary or beneficiaries. There are no requirements under Dutch law for this kind of money gift.<\/p>\n

You can also gift money \u2018on paper\u2019. When you do this, you keep the amount gifted yourself but take advantage of any gift tax exemptions. The Dutch tax authorities have all kinds of requirements when it comes to this type of gift: it has to be recorded in a notarial deed, for instance, and annual interest of 6% needs to be paid on the amount.<\/p>\n
